Our Instructor, Arthur was the BEST possible instructor! Very clear, understandable, patient and he made the class fun and enjoyable.

I’ve taken ASA 101 and 103 here and joined their sailing club. The instructors are top notch. Definitely pleased with how they teach and the quality of the training ships and lessons.

Had two private lessons with Matthew on our older Catalina 27 and it was great! We learned a lot about the little idiosyncrasies of our rig, built a lot of confidence, and learned some great tips for things such as docking, two-person sailing, and general maintenance.

“Summer of 2024, My wife and I along with another couple, took ASA 101 instructed by the new owner of the school Matthew. From him we learned all the basics of operating a 26' keel boat in Commencement Bay. Not only was Matthew incredibly knowledgeable about sailing but he shared his experiences in a very relatable way. It was easy to talk with our instructor which made for a comfortable learning environment that I would recommend to any aspiring sailor or weekend enthusiast.”

We found that Mike J communicates the material very well and does so in a tone and manner that is both calming and encouraging at the same time. I believe Mike possesses that rather rare ability to both teach and gently encourage and motivate his students at the same time.

This was my first sailing class ever (101) and I gotta say, it was INCREDIBLE! Our instructor Mike Clidas was exceptional and very knowledgeable. The class flowed very well from one topic to the next and it was easy to follow along with so much information overload. Definitely coming back for my next classes (103/104).

We did our 101 this past spring. They were great with communications and our instructor (who was awesome!) really cared about making sure you got the education needed to safely sail independently. We had some wind issues and he made a lot of effort to make sure we got out on the water enough to practice.

I took ASA 101 recently in Des Moines at the Des Moines Marina. The PSSI instructors are very experienced and I learned a lot. It was really great experience.

I would definitely recommend the Puget Sound Sailing Institute to my friends.

My husband and I just completed ASA 101 with instructor David Gallimore. We had a fantastic experience! On the water, our instructor was patient and calm, helping us to build confidence in each new skill. We felt welcomed in to the community and look forward to sailing with PSSI again.

My wife and I just took and passed ASA 101. Could not have asked for a better experience and captain/instructor. Bob Hake was our instructor and he was awesome! We plan to join the club and take ASA 103 as soon as we can fit it in our schedule.

“This was my first sailing class ever (101) and I gotta say, it was INCREDIBLE! Our instructor was exceptional and very knowledgeable. The class flowed very well from one topic to the next and it was easy to follow along with so much information overload. Definitely coming back for my next classes (103/104). I even signed up to be a member for some extra practice. 6 stars if I had the option.”
