INSTRUCTOR: Michael Rice, owner of Puget Sound Sailing Institute, will be the onboard instructor. Mike has sailed over 80,000 nautical miles and has taught thousands to sail and navigate. He is Coast Guard licensed and is an A.S.A. certified instructor through Celestial Navigation and A.S.A. Instructor Evaluator. Mike has been awarded A.S.A. Instructor of the Year six times! He has been running successful trips like this since 1985, including trips throughout the Pacific Northwest and Caribbean, Tahiti, Greece, and Sea of Cortez, Mexico. THIS IS A FLOTILLA CRUISE: You have two choices: 1. Come on Mike's boat for instruction. CHARTER YACHTS: Beneteau yachts, ranging from 35 to 44 feet, are chartered for this trip. All yachts are designed with interiors which feature luxurious private staterooms, each with its own head, shower, and ventilation ports for comfort and convenience. COST: $1,500 per person plus transportation costs to and from British Colombia (carpool, ferry). This price includes yacht charter, instruction, up to 2 ASA certifications, and food while aboard. Meals enroute and beverages aboard are not included. One dinner ashore not included. Prices are subject to change. CERTIFICATION: Puget Sound Sailing Institute is an American Sailing Association (ASA) sail training facility that offers Basic Sailing through Offshore Passagemaking certification. We take the certification process seriously and feel we can offer you the finest instruction available. You may qualify for up to two ASA certifications, come along to simply enjoy the ride, or anything in between. You decide! 2. If you are ASA or US Sailing Certified through Bareboat Chartering, you can charter your own yacht (this must be arranged by PSSI), but you will have the comfort and security of going along with Mike, who will be available for guidance and consultation. Your cost is the charter of the yacht plus a $350 flotilla fee paid to PSSI. With a FLOTILLA, you have independence but have less responsibility and a guide to introduce you to the area. Plus, it's ten times more fun!!! (Call the office for charter yachts available.) ITINERARY: Saturday, July 31, 2010: Carpool to Comox, B.C. and spend the evening at a hotel, (extra cost).
