Join us for seven wonderful days of sun, sand, sailing and offshore training in the Caribbean! Your dream trip begins with a flight to picturesque Canouan. Spend a relaxing night aboard your yacht. The next morning set sail for seven days and six nights cruising the exquisite Tobago Cays, Mayreau Island, Mustique and Bequia. In between these exotic ports of call will be 2 overnight offshore sails - Beguia to Grenada and Grenada back to Canouan. We will set watches and sail all night, receiving valuable ocean experience from Mike Rice, who has crossed the Pacific 7 times. Fully relaxed and suntanned, you can choose to enjoy one more night at a hotel in the Grenadines (optional) or immediately return home. DESTINATION: The Grenadines are some of the finest sailing and cruising grounds in the world, and January is the best month to be there! Reliable trade winds average 15-20 knots from the East. Temperatures in January/February average High-82°F, Low-71°F, water temperature-82°F. We have the choice of over 30 anchorages, many within a few hours sail of each other. Beautiful white sand beaches, turquoise crystal clear water and great snorkeling/scuba complete the ingredients for paradise. CHARTER YACHT: Mooring 51.5' monohull featuring 4 double berth cabins plus 1 cabin with two single berths; each with their own bathroom and shower. The 51.5 provides an excellent balance between comfort and performance. ITINERARY: Mon, Tues: Jan 4, 5: Fly to Canouan. Spend the night aboard. Wed, Jan 6-Tues, Jan 12: Sailing, Learning, Exploring, Offshore training! Tues, Jan 12 (noon): Disembark. Tues, Jan 12 or Wed, Jan 13: Return flight to the States. INSTRUCTOR/SKIPPER/COOKING: Onboard instructor will be Mike Rice. Mike has sailed over 80,000 nautical miles and has led successful Caribbean trips since 1985. He is a Coast Guard licensed Captain and an ASA Certified Instructor and was named ASA Instructor of the Year for 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2005. Instruction is available continuously. Up to two ASA certifications are included to those who apply themselves. Cooking responsibilities will be shared by the crew. Provisioning includes 7 delicious breakfasts and lunches and 4 dinners. The menu is personalized for your tastes!! CURRICULUM: Steering through ocean waves, GPS, radar, ship traffic avoidance, heavy weather sailing, special offshore rigging use of safety harness, etc. ACTIVITIES: The possibilities are endless! Along with the continuous excellent sailing and navigation and instruction provided by Mike, some time will be set aside for vacation type activities, including sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, reading, relaxing, hiking, informal racing or just having fun! Accommodations can be made for an accompanying spouse, significant other, friend or family member who wishes to be aboard but not participate in the learning. COST: $2,050 per person or $3900 per couple. Singles are welcome! This cost includes 7 days/7 nights aboard the yacht, one night sleep aboard, instruction, up to two ASA certifications, provisions for 7 breakfasts and lunches and four dinners. Two dinners ashore not included. Also, beverages and food while in port and airfare are not included. Ask us for current prices on optional hotel night. Available discounts are as follows: $50 off per person for two or more signing up. *Double occupancy, capacity is 6 students plus instructor PAYMENT SCHEDULE: A 25% deposit due at time of sign up. $100 of this is non-refundable. An additional 50% payment is due September 1, 2009. A final 25% payment is due November 1, 2009. Deadline to sign up is November 1, 2009, or when the trip is full, which ever occurs first. There are no refunds after the November 1, 2009 date due to our commitments to the charter company. |
